Drop in a video. Reggie takes it from there.
A captioned, scrubbable player with live thumbnail previews, built from one uploaded file. No sprite-sheet pipeline or subtitle authoring required.
Reggie is a video production assistant we built to solve one specific gap: a raw video tag doesn't preview a thumbnail while you drag the seek bar, and it doesn't come with captions. Getting both normally means standing up a sprite-sheet pipeline and a subtitle-authoring step, or paying a hosted platform for it. Reggie turns that into one drop-a-file-in step.

Drop a video in, or click to browse. That's the whole first step.
What comes back is a real player, not a bare video tag: closed captions, volume, settings, pop-out, and fullscreen are all there. Drag the seek bar and a live thumbnail pops up the way a streaming platform's player does, generated from a sprite sheet and mapped to time ranges automatically. Underneath, a timestamped transcript panel scrolls in sync with playback, with a language switcher built in.

Hover-preview scrubbing and a synced transcript, both generated automatically.
The web app is the friendly front door. Underneath it is a single API endpoint: post a video, optionally ask for a zip, and get back a self-contained bundle, the scrub track and every thumbnail image, already in the format a browser expects. Point it at a transcription service first and that same zip includes a subtitle track too.
That narrowness is deliberate. Reggie does one job, video in, sprites and a scrub track out, and everything else bolts onto it through that same kind of endpoint. That's the same pattern that lets it play well with Walter, for durable file storage, and Teddy, for any-language translation: point Reggie at either one and the result is a fully multi-lingual player, with nothing else on Reggie's side needing to change.
What it does
- Hover-preview scrubbing from sprite-sheet thumbnails mapped through WebVTT
- A self-contained zip bundle, ready to drop onto a static host or CDN with zero extra wiring
- An optional transcription bolt-on: one endpoint URL is the whole integration
- A full player: captions, volume, settings, pop-out, and fullscreen
- A synced, timestamped, multi-language transcript panel built into the player
- A narrow, composable core built to bolt onto a larger pipeline without changing how it works today
